The 5, 6, 7th graders are a bit behind following the ISTEP schedule. They will all be testing over the introductory material listed below on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The good news is that they should really know this material well because we have gotten to spend a good amount of time learning it! We will begin using our new textbooks this coming Wed., Oct. 10th! This should be exciting. Our textbook is a level one text entitled BUEN VIAJE. The students will need to leave the textbooks in the room. They will be learning lots of new vocabulary, grammar and culture. The 8th graders are already using the new texts and are going to be performing their dialogues on Wednesday. These dialogues are a sort of "mini-conversation" or skit of a restaurant scene. Students will memorize 5 lines each and perform these in front of the class. This quarter I will be introducing the Our Father (el Padre Nuestro) in Spanish. Students will be required to memorize and recite this prayer by the end of quarter 2. The Hail Mary and Prayer of St. Francis will follow in quarters 3 and 4. I would also like to do some cooking this quarter with the students. Students will also be working in pairs to research a famous Central American. They will write a report, create a visual and present their findings to the class. Something else that students will be doing this upcoming quarter will be learning and singing a few fun Spanish Christmas Carols! I'm looking forward to a fun second quarter!!
